Hey, how's it going? Yep, I am still here and still chugging through the house expansion. I am happy to say that the only thing we are waiting for now is the floor to dry! YAY, no cold, frozen, almost claw fingers from doing laundry OUTSIDE!

I guess I have been a little absent lately, it has been pointed out that I have been neglecting my little slice of the web. So here I am with the progress on Brick one. I looked back and I left off with my sweet sweet slab. Since then it was framed and the outside boards put up (not sure what you would call that stage) The windows have been put in, the roof done and the siding was put up. Yesterday was an exciting day because we got our brick on! Now it looks more cohesive with the rest of the house. That is just the outside. The inside, electric is done ( for this stage until the sheet rock is up) , the air conditioning vent stuff is done and our bath tub is in! That is the report. We were waiting on our inspection and that was done today but they always seem to have something that needs redone or just done before they okay it. I think the guy is bored and needs something to do and that's why he wants to keep coming out, plus he gets paid each and every time. On to the fun stuff and what I am sure most of you came to see instead of read what I have to say. Oh and ignore the mess I had to shove stuff out of the way quickly! I will try to keep up better and take more/better pictures. I forgot to mention that my dad was taking down that ugly, old, nothing will grow in it flower bed! Yay for dad muscles! Thanks dad!
It may not come from Marble slab ( see what I did?) But right now the sight it just as sweet! I went back over to my parents house to do more cleaning since they should be here on Thursday. The place is REALLY gross but it is getting better...slowly. I started with an easier job scrubbing the walls and floor of the "Den" that will be changed to the Dining room. I couldn't even guess the last time this floor might have been cleaned. But in the end it was something I wouldn't mind walking on bare footed. I was determined to get a lot done today so I trudged on, this is what I was welcomed to in the kitchen. Are you sick?! I am, just by looking at the picture. If you can't tell what this marvelousness is, it's dried shell of roach eggs and dead roaches themselves! Okay, I was glad they were dead, but YUCK! Again, I am the favorite child. With much sweat and grimacing from the filth this turned in to this... Cleaner but still ugly. I thought about going over after dinner for some priming and painting but I am beat and super grossed out. So instead I will just sit here and try to look out my window at the wonderful and "sweet" foundation of my new bedroom. The crews are really getting stuff done! Last Wednesday they got the plumbing in! They also got a bit of a talking to from some super mean owners of the empty house next door! Some people just like to be mean I am afraid. That is a story for another day! I am glad I asked before I used the toilet, at the time they were hooking in to the main line. Though I think one of the boys used it before I asked, Ooops. Sorry about the stink Mr plumber guy! There was also fun to be had with the crews big machines. They let baby girl sit in it. (YES she is in her swim suit. We just got back from swimming ) By end Friday the crews Had the re-bar sitting and waiting. I was surprised how far they dug down the ditch after they had the boards up. There's my foot making an appearance just to show how big of a ROOT they had to dig up! Friday I also spent some time over at Brick two to get some cleaning done. Let me just say that I am the best daughter soon to be favorite, sorry sisters, I cleaned up rat poo. It took two hours just to scrub the counter and three of the cabinet doors. Notice I didn't say inside the cabinets, that is for another day...probably later today! The last two photos are things I still have to take care of that I THOUGHT I was going to get to the other day. No such luck. So happy cleaning everybody and thank your lucky stars that you are not cleaning rat poo. At least I HOPE you are not cleaning rat poo and if you are wear a mask!
It has been a while since I have posted anything because there really wasn't anything going on. The quiet is long gone and so is sleeping in. During the quiet time I was busy trying to rid my parents house of fleas. YES I did say fleas, YUCK! I thankfully can say they are GOOOoooone! Neem Oil is A-W-E-S-O-M-E. I mixed it in a garden sprayer and sprayed the whole floor then waited a couple days. The other problem I was dealing with was a mouse or mice I'm not sure how many, all I know is they ate the couch that is in the living room. Hopefully they are long gone as well. The last few days have been quite busy and a lot has happened in both houses! Lots of exciting schtuff happenin! On Brick one...my house... They have taken the brick off the side and have started the building up of the foundation! WooHoo! In Brick two...my parents house...There has been lots of painting going on. (hover over pictures to see caption) The pictures don't show the carpet tack and nails that had to be up before I could paint. My fingers remember them well. I have been antsy to actually start painting over at my parents house ( brick two). TODAY was the day it started. BUT not the fun "ohhhhhh, it looks so good" painting. We had to start with primer, to get all the yucky that might seep through the paint, stuck to something. You know the pain in the neck painting because you have to look up the whole time! Neil helped me prime the ceilings in the bedrooms and I primed the hallway myself. While waiting for the primer to dry I started cutting in the paint around the ceiling and wood work around the room in the bedroom. Before I left I was able to put on one coat of white on the ceiling! YAY, for fresh paint! The ceiling was the same color on the wall only with all the tobacco stains still on it! Its always fun to see the before pictures but its also always great to see the hidden colors the rooms actually were at one time. I had to stop cutting in because I realized how stupid it would be to paint the ceiling and the wall and do nothing to the little piece of trim in between the two. This is where I stopped. The ceiling with one coat of paint and needing to start the little strip near it.
If you look out the window you can see how close the houses are, that's my car in my driveway. She is a good photo bomber, that car. This morning the tree guy came. Let me just say that he did okay, but I really like our normal tree guy (If you need a guy close by let me know, he is awesome) Well, whatever, the tree is down and that's the purpose of his visit. Now we have a stump. I am so original I call it, you guessed it, Stumpy. You know that is less formal than Mr. The kids had fun watching them cut it to pieces and before that, waiting to see if they would break a window with all the bangs against the glass. So here is our friend ... STUMPY!Or Mr. Stumps could work too. Whatever makes you happy. Baby girl watching them labor in the sun. Lucky her she is indoors in the cool AC. There it was, it was a beautiful Pecan shade tree, but life and family gets bigger needing more room. The semi-red circle is where the tree was and where Stumpy is currently living. I believe he disappears tomorrow. It looks so different with it down, it's amazing how much bigger that area seems! I did find my log for my someday table!
